What We Did

Huge improvement in light quality and reduced lighting costs

The challenge

Saint Paul’s Catholic High School joined with St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and St John Fisher and St Thomas More Catholic Primary School to form the Wythenshawe Catholic Academy Trust (MAT – Multi Trust Academy) in 2013.

As an environmentally conscious school trust WCAT wanted to improve their sustainability credentials while improving the learning environment.

The solution

In a bid to improve their carbon footprint and reduce their energy use, WCAT looked for new and innovative ways to make a positive change. By partnering with eLight, a LED upgrade was done with as little impact as possible to the school environment across the trust.

The installation has improved the lighting quality in the schools and made a 63% reduction in lighting costs, amounting to £251,005 in savings over ten years. Importantly, it has reduced carbon emissions by 560 tonnes.

“With carbon reduction being our main agenda, eLight provided our Trust with a way of transitioning all our schools to LED with zero capital outlay for the business, provided through a fully compliant funded agreement. The installation was seamless and the outcome is fantastic, plus we have no maintenance to worry about moving forward! Thank you!”
